As a doula, these are the services I do perform:

Labor Support...

• I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience.
• I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation using massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort.
• I am independent and self-employed. I work for you, not your caregiver or hospital.
• I compliment rather than displace the partner by providing support and encouragement for both mother and partner.

Preparation...

• The initial meeting with you and your partner will be used to become acquainted, to discuss your priorities as well as any concerns, to review the services I offer and to explore how we might best work together.
• If you decide to use my services, we will have two more prenatal meetings in order that I may become familiar with or help you formulate your preferences regarding pain management and medication options.
• I will meet with you at your home on the second prenatal meeting, so I will be familiar with the location of your home, should you want me to come there when you are in labor or if you are having a home birth.

Resources...

• I have relaxation CD’s, childbirth DVD’s, and a small collection of childbirth books that I will lend to you.

Availability...

• I am available for phone or e-mail contact at anytime to answer questions or to provide information to my clients.
• I maintain a twenty-four hour on call status beginning two weeks prior to your estimated due date and continuing until the onset of labor.
• I will inform you of times when I am unavailable for labor support and will arrange one or more back-up doulas.
