About Mary

My History...

I am a Certified Birth Doula.

I am the mother of two children (one medicated birth and one natural birth) and grandmother of three.

I worked for a rural doctor for seven years and assisted him with births in the clinic as well as in patients’ homes.

I received training in a DONA approved workshop in 2004 and received my certification with DONA International in 2005.

I have been a member of the Birthcare Network since 2004.

My Pledge...

I pledge to provide compassionate and comprehensive education and support to the childbearing family during pregnancy, labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.

My Philosophy...

I believe uncomplicated childbirth is an everyday blessing, not a medical emergency. Each woman already has within her everything it takes to birth her baby and can labor and birth her own way most effectively in an environment where she feels safe and loved.

My Services...

I go to home births, hospital births, all natural births, medicated births, induced births, VBACs, and even c-sections. I accompany women in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation using massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort.

My Promise...

I respect my client’s choices for labor and birth. I will use my experience and knowledge to facilitate a satisfying birth experience for all members of the birth team.

“Only with trust, faith, and support can the woman allow the birth experience to enlighten and empower her.”
—Claudia Lowe
